The Smart Strip surge protector lowers your energy bills by turning off your computer's peripherals when your PC is shut down. Six "automatically switched" outlets are all turned off when wattage through the "control" outlet drops below a user-settable threshold. Over time, this can save you tremendous amounts of electricity (and money), as all those AC adapters cease their "idling" drain of 4 to 60 watts. The Smart Strip also has 3 "constantly hot" outlets that maintain a constant current to devices that require it.

    Pros: Worked as stated. Problems with laptop docking stations; they keep power 'on' so even when the laptop is off, the docking station and the power strip stay on.
    Cons: We bought 10 and after a couple of weeks, 4 of them quit working.
    Other Thoughts: The concept is great, the implementation by this mfg isn't so great.
