Pros: Does not work with Windows 7 OS. |
Cons: The vendor drivers for Windows 7 64-bit OS do not work correctly. |
Response From Cyberguys Tech: Vendor drivers for Microsoft Windows 7 can be found here: http://www.iogear.com/support/dm/driver/GUC232A. |

Pros: Needed a serial port on a Win7/64-bit system. Not trivial to come by. Had to go to the mfgers site to get the driver (just follow the link in the product desc), downloaded it, installed, plugged in the Converter and it worked, presto. Running test software on it now to talk to an embedded PIC, 115kbaud, with no problems! |
Cons: None. |
Other Thoughts: For the price and usability across multiple systems, you can't go wrong. |

Pros: I've been using this adapter for years ( I have two). I'm buying a few more here because I can't find them locally - they were once available in Walmart.
Hard to get excited about a USB to RS-232 adapter but this one works without issues. I guess that's good enough.
I'm using it with Win XP Pro. Highly recommend it!!! |
Cons: None |
Other Thoughts: If you still use RS-232 devices buy two. |

Pros: Works as described. To the guy with the Win7 problem, if you check the manufactures site, it is clearly laid out what it supports. See below:
"•Windows® 98SE, Windows® 2000, Windows® ME, Windows® XP, Windows® Vista, Windows® 7 "
In addition, the driver download page is here: http://www.iogear.com/support/dm/driver/GUC232A#display
I will order additional units for our particular situation. |
Cons: Not free |
Other Thoughts: When in doubt, check the manufacturers site for driver info and updates to OS's. |

Pros: May work with XP and earlier OS's. |
Cons: It would be nice if Cyberguys.com noted in their catalog that this device does not work with Vista or Windows 7. There are no drivers in existence for this item, including the install discs for Vista or Windows 7, 32 or 64 bit. |
Response From Cyberguys Tech: We're sorry that you had difficulty finding the Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7 drivers. The drivers for these operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit), along with Mac OS X and Redhat Linux 7.3-9, are available at IOGEAR's site at http://www.iogear.com/support/dm/driver/GUC232A. |
