Works Great

Pros: Works as advertised. I have two of them, one in each of my systems. Both have been running for over a year now. No problems. The fans still work and are not noisy.
Cons: The drives run a little warmer than the regular internal drives, but so far this has not caused any problems.
Other Thoughts: I use them mainly for handling backup drives (1T). Though on occasion I have removed the backup drive and replaced it with a smaller one and put case info/images on it to send to another examiner to review. Works great for being able to save and move very large amounts of information. Works great for system backups also. Can remove the backup drive and replace with another so if something happens to system, you have another stored offline.

Pros: The top has External Enclosure printed on it which implies it is not an internal unit. I removed the top as suggested and installed the topless Mobile Rack as an internal unit. With the hard drive exposed it should run at the same temperature as if mounted directly in a standard 3.5" slot. I didn't remove the fan.
Cons: The top is diffcult to remove.
Other Thoughts: Unit operates smoothly and it works great.

All but the fan

Pros: Great concept, love being able to swap drives easily
Cons: Wish they'd put in a decent fan. I have 3 of these - all have noisy fans (screeches, etc). Based on other reviews about the fans stopping, I guess the sound is reassurance that the fan is actually turning...

Pros: Install very quick and easy! No problems to report. I have them in three systems!
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Great for backing up computers, saving movies, music and other large projects. It makes large sata drives portable and a lot more cost effective than the USB travel drives!

Almost a Good Idea

Pros: Easy swap of HD without opening machine.
Cons: Fans die turning the enclosure into an easy-bake oven. Read one of the reviews about fans, checked and all of mine were bad. Fried two drives before I noticed!
Other Thoughts: I have one machine with four of these things in the bays. Makes it good for swapping drives around like floppies. Allows multiple boot drives etc. Best idea is to pop the plastic top off (start at the center of the rear and pry it off) and throw it away, then the drive has about the same convection as any other carrier in the machine. The top doesn't seem to add any structural value

Pros: Easy to install, easy to use, works perfectly. Hard drives (sata) slip in like a breeze, once engaged , my computer immediately recognizes the drive and the file pop right up. Works for 1 tb and 500gb drives thus far.
No need for a carrier tray, just pop in the raw drive and the connections are made.
Cons: price, but that always could be lower.

Pros: Good fit in computer and had no trouble with any screws being to short.
Cons: The only thing is you better get in the habit of shutting down to insert or remove a hard drive. If you hot swap, you will have to restart befor the computer will read it.
Other Thoughts: I would buy anothr one, and recomment this unit to everyone

Needs long screws

Pros: Didn't actually use it.
Cons: The case is plastic. A screw has to be long enough to reach the metal plate behind the 1/16" thick plastic.
My case has custom screws and they are not long enough to reach through the plastic shell. I can't mount it.
