Awesome Product - Horrible Instructions

4 Star Rating
Tuesday, August 28, 2012 2:29:31 PM
Pros: Stable network after setup. Ability to go through several trees (but we are only 1 mile away from buildings). Like the visual indicators showing network strength.
Cons: Installation instructions leave much to be desired and as such I am deducting one star for my review. The only sheet that came with the device was one that detailed how to phsically put it together. It didn't mention software or how to get the devices to speak to each other. (See "Other Thoughts" section to mitigate this issue.)
Other Thoughts: To save you some time, the devices are set up with an IP address Either put the NanoBridge on a router with a 192.168.1.x network or use a crossover cable and connect it directly to a laptop and assign the laptop an IP address of (or whatever suits your fancy). Go into the airOS software (that is installed on the NanoBridge dish) by typing into your favorite Web browser. The first device, which will connect to your EXISTING network, needs to be set up as an ACCESS POINT (AP). The second device, which will be the one to extend your network, needs to be set up as a STATION with a BRIDGE network mode. How you want to encrypt the network is up to you, but I suggest at least WPA2-AES. If you've set up other wireless networks, it should be fairly intuitive from here on out.
